I painted Kaleidoscope from a wooded scene across the street from my home, during late Winter, when hints of Spring are popping up everywhere. Some of the trees held on to their orange leaves all Winter, giving certain parts of the sky a gold glow, and warming up the whole scene. I loved the intersection of branches with shadows, and the tangled pattern of shapes that fell on the ground.
