~ART TIPS TO KEEP IN MIND~

1. OIL paint is based from "oil"- it is a fine, rich and thick substance. It continues to hold a nice sheen, and the pigment last longer than other paints. Most of the "fine art" is painted in oils. While oil paint allows for some interesting and creative techniques, it is more costly and takes longer to work with.

2. Acrylic paint is based from "water"- it is a thinner paint and holds it's color well, but over long periods of time, it can lighten up or become dry looking. All in all, acrylic paint is a good paint, that is nice to work with AND it is less expensive than oil paint.

3.  Gallery wrap canvases- when the actual canvas is wrapped tightly behind the wooden frame, and stapled to the backside of the wooden frame so that it has a nice and clean side to it. There are no staples seen, so there is no need for a frame. It hangs just like it says... "gallery style". Gallery wrapped canvases are slightly more costly. The other style is "with" staples showing on the side. You would used this style if you intended on framing a certain piece.

4. There are different size canvases, also with different depths to the sides. There is a deep sided canvas that is two inches thick, and most of these are gallery style canvases (with no staples), and there is a standard sided canvas that is about 3/4 of an inch. The deeper the side of the canvas, the more costly.
